Benefits of Reiki on the body and mind

To understand the benefits of Reiki, one must already know the meaning of the practice. Traditional Reiki is a meditative relaxation by touch. This method of natural health helps to find a well-being of the body. But also, at the same time, mind. For this, he combines a secular meditation with a light touch of specific points of the body. It works through the resonance of meditation (or meditative resonance).

Retrospective on Reiki

Two Japanese words constitute the word Reiki: “Rei” meaning spirit and “ki” which translates as energy. Thus, Reiki means: spirit energy, or strength of the mind.

Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki

This practice of Asian origin was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by the Japanese Mikao Usui. Traditional Reiki is based on the natural and traditional functioning of the human being. Note that Traditional Reiki, in this sense, is none other than the original Reiki. And so it is the same benefits of Reiki. As its founder Mikao Usui said in Japan in the 1920s, this method generates a healing of the mind. The meaning, in our modern culture, is: healing from the pain of living.

Reiki session and meditation

Conduct of a Reiki session

A Reiki session usually lasts one hour – sometimes an hour and a half to two hours with a master practitioner. The consultants (people who come to consult, as opposed to patients, medical term) know the benefits of Reiki. They thus regularly experience: an internal security, a mental peace and a durable and progressive well-being. In fact, the benefits of Reiki are broad, and affect the whole of the person.

Benefits of Reiki: Connection with those of meditation

Because Reiki is based on meditation, they are the same as the benefits of meditation. When the mind is better, the psychic suffering diminishes. If the mind is better, the body will be too, and some symptoms, even psychosomatic diseases, can diminish – or even disappear.

Multiple Reiki benefits

On the physical plane

Reiki can soothe the psychological tensions that prevent personal fulfilment. By strengthening the immune system weakened by stress, it can preserve the body of certain diseases.

The benefits of Reiki also allow a complement to the medical, based solely on the comfort of the person. He supports her physically and mentally. Thus, it is also possible to intervene preoperatively, in preparation for comfort of the body and mind. The same goes for postoperative intervention. The practice of Reiki therefore helps to better recover after less heavy surgical procedures.

The benefits of Reiki are measured in the relief of people, in the face of their emotional and mental problems. But also in the sense of lost life – hence, the term spiritual therapy. By erasing stress, it promotes relaxation and provides restful sleep and good quality. It helps to have a serene pregnancy. Reiki also promotes recovery after a psychological shock, or moral distress, however, without curing mental disorders.

Stress and Reiki

Today, stress is part of our daily lives. It is the result of the pressures that society inflicts on us and/or that we inflict on ourselves on our mind and body. It is increasingly difficult to find moments of calm and serenity, whether in our work and/or in our personal life. We do not take the time to “breathe” and “rebalance”. As soon as the body is on alert, we must not ignore this stress and immediately make the choice to get better.

What do we recognise as stress?

The manifestations of stress can be different from one person to another, from one situation to another. They can be physical, psychological or emotional. You have to learn to listen to your body; we are sometimes in a bubble that prevents us from noticing that something is not right.

Physical manifestations

The quality of your sleep (difficulty falling asleep, frequent awakenings, restless sleep …)

Stomach problems

Chest pain; feeling that his heart is going to stop or that a small ball is forming there

Fast heart rate

Difficulty breathing

Reiki against stress

Reiki is a natural method for managing stress and anxiety-related conditions. It has the virtues of relaxation and well-being that put you in a state of relaxation. It frees you from your stress and anxieties. Reiki helps rebalance your energies and tensions. It also helps you to become more serene, treat anxiety, sleep disorders, depression, burn-out, phobias or lack of self-confidence.

After a few sessions, your mind and body will acquire the defences to allow you to enter your self-healing process.

Difference between reiki and magnetism

Magnetism and reiki are frequently mentioned names that are related to healing or relieving by laying on of hands. If these two methods are close enough to each other in that they send a healing energy to a patient, they nevertheless present fundamental differences in their origins and functioning. So, if you hesitate to make an appointment between a session of magnetism or reiki, this article is for you!

Magnetiser or Reiki master: who are they?

The principle remains the same on the merits between magnetiser and master reiki: they channel an energy to relieve, even heal in some cases, physical and even emotional pain of another person. The mechanism that plays here is difficult to analyse, because it is not simply a question of referring to a patient, any energy.

This energy can be aspirational, that is, it removes the bad energy from the person. The healing energy is sent to the person so they can work on healing themselves. However, the reiki master and the magnetiser do not operate in the same way. Reiki is a technique that aims to channel the energy present in the universe to send it to a specific problem of a person. The reiki master is only an intermediary, a channel, between the energy of the universe and the patient. It does not give its own energy in this exchange system, but does not guide the care either. Indeed, he relies completely on universal energy simply by entrusting him with the task of solving the problem. However, the energy will penetrate the patient and spread in him to act on the physical or emotional cause without distinction.

The magnetiser, on the other hand, has a magnetism, usually in his hands, that allows him to heal using his own energy. It is not just a channel, but the transmitter of healing energy. He will therefore draw on his own resources to relieve a patient. Likewise, he does not let his energy do all the work. In general, his first intention is to remove the pain. Then, he will go deeper looking for the mechanical causes of the problem, but also the energetic causes. He will finish the treatment with an energy release. The first effect is fast because it relieves immediately. Healing can take longer.

Reiki or magnetism: complementary differences

Reiki is learned while magnetism is innate. The latter can and must be cultivated to learn to be mastered, but it is not acquired. Reiki is often taught by a reiki master who will transmit knowledge, a mastery of the channeling of energy. Reiki is a channeling method that does not require a specific gift from the person.

Magnetism is cultivated, but cannot be learned. It is not uncommon that it is a gift handed down from generation to generation. Yet, it is often supplemented by reiki to relieve, even cure some ailments. Indeed, reiki speeds up the process of relief and healing of the care provided by the magnetiser.

Reiki is often questioned because it uses the energy of the universe. In the universe, good and bad energies are present. One can then wonder how to be certain that only the good energies are channeled. Master Reiki responds to this that the universe knows what is good for you and sends you the energies accordingly. Similarly, the question arises in another measure for the magnetiser.

The magnetiser, a gift at risk

For the magnetiser, the question does not arise in the magnetiser-patient sense, but in the other direction. It is he who takes the risk of recovering your negative energies by magnetising you. He must proceed to complete energy cleanings after each treatment so he will not be contaminated by all kinds of bad energies.

Reiki, what is it?

The Reiki is a natural healing technique that relies on the harmonisation of energies by the application of hands on the painful areas. The word REIKI comes from the Japanese REI, which means spiritual essence, and KI which means energy of the force of life.

What is Reiki?

We can translate the word REIKI by “universal force”. Energy KI determines the alternation of seasons and the growth of plants, such as a rose that opens in the morning and closes at night. Our energy KI is the vital energy that flows in us like the sap in the tree. The universal energy is channeled through the hands of the REIKI practitioner and returned to the recipient. The practitioner does not practice any physical manipulation.

What are the principles of Reiki?

Just for today, do not worry. Just for today, do not get angry. Honour your parents, your teachers, your elders. Live your life honestly. Show gratitude for all that lives.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

The benefits of reiki are numerous. This technique can relieve many ailments. It is used for: Re-enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself
Increase resistance
Restore balance
Balance the body’s energies
Dissipate energy tensions
Relieve pain and disorders
Support and strengthen any medical treatment
Detoxify body cells

It can also help in the case of bulimia, anorexia, it reduces stress, anxieties, fears, lift blockages (after separation, divorce, mourning, rape, etc) and help you with your lack of self-confidence.

How does a Reiki session work?

We can alleviate the suffering of trauma caused by a car accident for example by applying reiki on the situation in the past. It is also possible to treat a situation in the future as a job interview. It can be practiced in an office or remotely. It takes three to four sessions for the effects of reiki to be effective. A preliminary interview takes place to determine the needs. A session lasts between an hour and an hour and a half.

Pet Reiki – Energy Treatments for Dogs & Cats

Reiki sessions for animals are given as a therapeutic tool to treat stress problems or improve the condition of the animal but also to support any physical problem. It is a simple and effective energy method of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual harmonisation that brings the animal back to a state of relaxation and inner peace. Reiki improves the health of the animal, it helps to release blockages, relaxes the animal and strengthens the immune system.

All animals are endowed with emotions, feelings and evils that can come from stress due to a specific situation; abandonment, chronic or acute illness, relocation, loneliness, old age, anxiety, physical activity, etc. Reiki sessions are practiced to reduce stress and relax the animal to improve the general condition of the animal but also to support any physical problem. It can also be practiced as a complement to a massage session.

The postoperative massage is for animals recovering from surgery. It prevents edema, inflammation and loss of muscle mass. This massage stimulates the lymphatic system, allowing better elimination of metabolic waste.

– Works on chronic and punctual diseases.
– Accompanies situations such as; shocks, abandonment, aggression, anxiety, fears
– Supports end of life for both the animal and human
– Stimulates the immune system
– Improves sleep and concentration
– Relieves inflammations, promotes relaxation, promotes self-healing processes and revives vital processes
– Speed up postoperative recovery

Cure cancer with alternative medicine like Reiki

Healing cancer with alternative medicine

The site of the Foundation against Cancer summarises what alternative medicine means: “The Anglo-Saxons have replaced the term ‘alternative’ with the ‘unproven method’ which means ‘unproven method’. The term ‘alternative’ falsely suggests that there is another way that is faster, more efficient or more enjoyable, to achieve a cure. However, unproven methods are not ‘alternative’ routes that could avoid the disadvantages of ‘conventional’ treatments.”

Is Reiki an alternative medicine?

Often associated with alternative or unconventional medicine, Reiki is actually a practice of meditative relaxation through touch. Its primary meaning is to live your life as best you can, whether you are sick or not. It allows to stop the mechanisms generating psychic suffering.  In fact, it is a prevention of health and induces a better-being. Moreover, well-being has nothing to do with the disease. Reiki does not fit into the medical field. It can not therefore be a substitute for chemotherapeutic and/or classical treatments. It does not cure cancer, despite false information circulating on the internet. This is why Reiki cannot be defined as soft medicine, unconventional, natural, parallel, etc. To associate it with a form of medicine while talking about Reiki care is a deviation from Reiki. This deviation is unfortunately widespread and leads even to therapeutic drifts. We must therefore remain cautious in the face of people defining Reiki as unconventional medicine, some of which claim that it can cure cancer.

What do we know about the effects of Reiki in the face of cancer?

We focus here only on Reikiology. This is professional Reiki (BAC + 3) and certified (quality label ISQ-OPQF). In addition, the well-being and anti-stress effects of Reikiology are clinically proven. This is the only form of Reiki proposed to date that has proven itself in terms of training, the demonstration of its functioning and its effects.

The effects of a wellness practice

However, in addition to medical treatments to cure cancer, it is possible to benefit from an unconventional method of well-being. For example, massage promotes muscle relaxation. This remains a significant help for people with cancer, whose bodies and minds are under stress because of stress, pain or even treatments.

The benefits of meditation

We know that meditation promotes the proper functioning of the immune system, essential to fight against the disease. With a better immune system is it possible to cure cancer? Even doctors cannot say for sure! However, a Reiki session based on deep relaxation is very suitable as support.

What to think of Reiki masters? How to choose a master?

A Reiki master is only a “bridge between two worlds”, that of the physical and that of the subtle. He is not a master of thought, but only a witness of this energy that transcends us, a simple channel. He is responsible for the teaching he disseminates and must be faithful to that given by Mikao Usui.

The first mission of a teacher is to transmit the initiations and techniques of Dr. Mikao Usui in a faithful manner, accompanied by his lineage and certificate of initiation. After the initiation seminars, his role is limited to advising new practitioners in their personal practice of Reiki (techniques, experiences). This is part of the follow-up after initiation. It is not up to the teacher to solve the problems of the new practitioners he has initiated, but he will nevertheless listen and advise them about the practice of Reiki. Everyone must make his way and it is the responsibility of each to pursue a personal work of evolution.

Thanks to Reiki, suffering can be alleviated. Reiki is an excellent tool to solve problems. And it works, as previous insiders can attest. But you have to arm yourself with patience and consistency, because everything cannot be solved in a day. In any discipline, to achieve results, perseverance, willpower and courage are important factors. Any Reiki Master must be able to present his lineage on which appear all the names of the Reiki masters of his lineage before him. Practitioners from 1st to 3rd degree do not appear on this lineage, only teacher are included. He must also be able to present his certificates from 1st to last degree. Likewise a Reiki teacher NEVER initiate “from a distance” because he knows perfectly well that the person must be present in order to be able to connect to the very essence of the symbols, be effective and to actually hold the Reiki energy.

The Reiki Master puts the student in contact with the pure essence of the Energy of Symbols through the initiation ritual. Each person is free to choose their Reiki Master Teacher. But the reliability of a master depends on documents that justify the veracity and seriousness of his claims. If someone claims to be a Reiki Master, you have every right to ask for the documents mentioned above! Then it’s up to you to judge if this person is reliable or not.

How to do a Reiki meditation for gratitude?

Gratitude is one of the great virtues that works with Reiki, it is the third great principle of this movement. To express our gratitude is to be aware of the universe and the meaning of life. Do you want to try your turn? This article reveals you in exclusivity how to do a Reiki meditation for gratitude.

The practice of Reiki meditation

We can do a Reiki meditation to work and develop our gratitude. When all is well, we thank the universe. When things go wrong, we suffer and often we protest, we complain and we feel wronged. This is how humans work. Gratitude is therefore also an excellent exercise to understand the instability of life and the fact that everything does not always go in our direction. It starts with our birth and our growth. We observe the impermanence in our relationships, in the seasons, in the economy and in our ability to cope with situations. This concept of instability and permanent change does not exist for us to become frustrated or desperate, but it is incumbent for us to look for what is really important and to develop our consciousness. That’s the point of doing a Reiki meditation for gratitude.

Reiki and horses | Energy treatment for horses

How is a Reiki energy treatment session with a horse?

Reiki and horse sessions are quite different from those with humans, and at the same time similar. You must know that Reiki is only offered to the horse and never imposed. The practitioner will always adapt to the animal. There may be no physical contact if the horse shows some shyness, anxiety or simply does not want to make physical contact. This does not detract from the effectiveness of the Reiki treatment. The horse can approach, is free of his movements and then participate fully in the session. During the treatment, the horse may show some signs of energy such as drowsiness, deep breathing, sighing and/or staring eyes.

Where to practice the session?

It is possible to achieve the energy treatment by being close to him; in his meadow, box or stable; or behind: behind the door of the box or the fence of the meadow if he is more nervous, anxious, stressed and afraid.  Just respect the animal and make it feel safe.

How long is a session?

The duration of the energy treatment varies. Some more suspicious horses will take longer to accept energy, while others will readily accept it from the beginning. Generally, the time of a session will be about 30min to 1h, not counting the time that the horse will put to accept the energy. Some will be more suspicious, others ignorant, or some will readily accept it from the start.

How many sessions are expected?

If the purpose of the energy session is only to bring relaxation, rebalance and the general condition of the horse, only one will be sufficient, to renew when you feel the need and desire, or to give a boost before a contest for example. Reiki energy treatments will intervene to favour the process of self-healing of the body and will support the follow-up and veterinary treatment on sessions.

If it is a chronic disease, skin problems or behaviour, for example, several sessions will be expected. Generally, at least 3 or 4 sessions are expected at about 1 session every 10 days.

Reiki energy care is only an additional aid to veterinary treatment and monitoring and does not replace it under any circumstances.

FAQs Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation and healing technique.
Reiki is both a therapeutic practice and a technique of well-being.
Simple and natural, it allows to channel and transmit energy by the hands.

What does the term “Reiki” mean?
Reiki means “life energy”. The word comes from the Japanese Rei (universal energy – the one around us) and Ki (vital energy – that which is present in us, in all living beings).

Does Reiki replace traditional medicine care?
Reiki can provide additional benefits by supporting and improving the overall condition of the person, but it can never replace medical treatment. Reiki does not establish a diagnosis.

How does Reiki work?
The practitioner concentrates the energy of Reiki and transmits it through the application/imposition of his hands.
The energy then flows throughout the body to relieve, re-harmonise and revitalise the person.

Should we believe in Reiki?
To receive a Reiki treatment remains a simple and natural act. It is not necessary to “believe” in Reiki, or to adopt a particular concentration to benefit from its benefits.

Does Reiki cure diseases?
Reiki is not about treating an illness or a part of the body, but treating the person as a whole. Reiki is here to support and stimulate natural abilities. It allows a reinforcement and a contribution of energy but does not exempt from a follow-up and a medical treatment.

Are there any risks to using Reiki?
No, there is no risk or contraindication to using Reiki, however a person suffering from a pathology must always consult a health professional and not be limited to Reiki care alone.

Is Reiki compatible with another therapy?
Reiki is a natural therapy perfectly compatible and complementary to other existing therapies (allopathy, homeopathy, osteopathy, body therapies, psychotherapy, etc)

Is Reiki compatible with drugs?
Reiki is compatible with drugs and does not hinder their action. It can also reduce the side effects of drugs. It is important to not stop your medical treatments during a Reiki cure.

Is Reiki a cult or a religion?
Reiki is neither a sect nor a religion. It contains neither dogma nor doctrine. The patient is free of his convictions. Reiki does not belong to anyone and is not reserved for a particular group but is accessible to all. Moreover, Reiki does not reject or exclude any therapy.

Are there any physical manipulations during a Reiki session?
No. There is simply a light touch or at a distance with the hands.

How long is a session?
A Reiki session lasts about an hour. For children and seniors, the sessions are shorter and last from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Speaking time can also be spent at the end of the session, if the person wishes, to discuss how she felt during the treatment. This space time is left to the discretion of everyone and is not essential to the effectiveness of the session.

How to prepare for a Reiki session?
There is no special preparation to plan before a Reiki session. Just plan in your agenda what time you agree. After the session, however, it is advisable to hydrate in order to facilitate the cleaning and regeneration processes.

How many sessions are needed?
It is not always possible to answer such a question in advance. Sufficiently beneficial effects can be felt from the first session. However, when the ills, the tensions are present for a long time, it is reasonable to envisage a minimum of four close sessions. This allows the body to rebalance globally and in depth. Then, the sessions can be spaced.

The number of sessions required, however, remains at the discretion of each according to his feelings, his expectations and his personal needs.
